“The Rape of the Lock” is about a woman who over reacts because a creepy man cuts some of her hair as a keep sake for him. The important thing about the story is about how the women are outing make up on this woman. It was like she was wearing battle paint and getting suited up for battle. It shows in description how something simple as getting ready for a party was like getting ready for a battle. When the woman got to the party she started playing cards and that was like her battle and then when got her hair chopped off so that was like her being defeated. The title of the story is appropriate because it shows how she didn’t want anyone taking her curl and not only a curl her favorite curl. She felt like she had been robbed because back in the day the women were looked at by their beauty and their virtue. Once her curl was gone it was kinda like the man stealing her virtue. Her virtue was also something the spirits were to guard, but because they were not there, they fled when she was having improper thoughts about a man, she was vulnerable to the man to steal a piece of her hair and her virtue. This story is about how a man who is basically stalking this woman ends up stealing her hair and not only just her hair, but her virtue. She is so upset that she gets everyone upset and it really is like a battle because they are fighting for the woman’s lock of hair that was taken away from her and that is it is put as rape of the lock because it was taken not given.
